This Indenture Witnesseth that
Alfred Bagnall of Brownhills
doth put himself apprentice to
Alfred Baker Draper & Clothier Chasetown
To learn his Art and after the manner to an Apprentice to serve from the date hereof for the full end and term of five years.
During which term the said Apprentice his Master faithfully shall serve, his secrets keep, his lawful commands everywhere gladly to obey shall do no damage to his said Master, nor see it done by others, but to the best of his power shall let and forthwith give notice to his said Master of the same. He shall not waste the goods of his said Master, nor lend them unlawfully to any. He shall neither buy nor sell without his Master’s license. He shall not play at cards, dice, tables, nor any unlawful game. He shall not haunt taverns nor ale-houses nor absent himself from his said Master’s service day or night unlawfully, but in all things as a faithful Apprentice he shall behave himself towards his said Master and all his during the said term.
And the said Alfred Baker in consideration of the faithful services of the said Alfred Bagnall will instruct the said Alfred Bagnall in his Art, Trade, or calling of Draper & Outfitter which he now useth, after the best manner or way that he can or will cause him to be so instructed.
AND the said Alfred Baker hereby agrees to find the said Apprentice sufficient Meat, Drink, Lodging, and all other necessaries during the said Term.
AND for the true performance of all and every the covenants and agreements herein contained, each of the said parties bindeth himself to the other and others of them by these presents. In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their Hands and Seal this [blank] day of May Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Six.
